I’m busy finishing up the last things I need to get done before leaving, and I will be finishing them until the moment that I need to drive to the airport. There is a lot that you need to plan out before being out of your home country for an extended period of time. For me, I already had a good amount of things sorted out and experience from traveling a bit last year.
It takes a good amount of work to figure out what you really need to bring and what can stay behind. Later on I will write some more posts about preparing for everything and tips of what to bring with you.
There will be so many new things to learn in the different places we visit and I am very excited to meet people and learn about their lifestyles. Traveling all around without an exact plan of where to go next set in stone gives you a feeling of freedom.
I have been so busy preparing everything the past few weeks that I haven’t had any time to really learn about Serbia, but I am excited to go and see it soon. The next time I write here I’ll be writing from Novi Sad, Serbia.

Before we get going, I can’t help but thinking about how much getting ready to travel can change your habits and attitude. There are a couple of things you give up and a couple of things you get and look forward to. Here they are:
1. You give up things you thought you might need. It’s funny I see this happen, because I didn’t think I would be attached to something in particular. But it was difficult to send my hundreds of CDs back home.
2. You get the feeling that you need to let things happen as you go. The thought of being in different countries for a while is inconsistent the comforting thought of having stuff planned out.
3. You can’t take some things for granted anymore: like going to get the groceries like you used to or just go out for a walk and not worry you might get lost.
4. Overall it’s a great opportunity to see the world like a “tourist”. Apart from the hassle and all the things you need to deal with so that you don’t run into trouble thousands of miles away from “home”, you just realize that every day is a beautiful memory you create right now. Travelling pushes you outside the comfort zone and you feel more motivated to do something meaningful, discover something new and enjoy being yourself, wherever you are.
So.. these are my thoughts before leaving.
Next time we’ll be writing from Novi Sad.
